Study on the Tipping of the Lower Anterior Teeth of Koreans

Abstract
The arrangement of the lower anterior teeth in Korean was studied with 106 plaster models.
The occlusal plane was set to the cusps of upper canine and the edge of upper central incisor in both sides and maked the lower base plane in parallel with the upper one under the condition of centric occlusion.
Following were the results:
1. Torsional degrees were as follows;
a. Mean values of the torsional degrees were; 89.76¢ª in right central incisor, 90.82¢ª in left central incisor, 72.24¢ª in right lateral incisor, 69.97¢ª in left lateral incisor, 42.24¢ª in right canine and 44.57¢ª in left caine.
b. No correlation was observed in the teeth of the same side.
c. A very significant positive correlation was noted in canines of the both sides and somewhere less still sygnificant postive correlation in the central and lateral incisors. A symmetrical tendency was also observed in the anterior teeth arrangement.
d. A positive correlation was noted in the upper and lower central incisors, while a negative correlation in the upper & lower lateral incisors. The curve rates of the anterior and posterior teeth arrangement also had a positive correlation.
2. The mesio-distal inclination of the lower anterior teeth was almost vertical while the canine had the mesial tipped crown by about 4¢ª.
3. The labio-lingual inclination was the greatest in the central incisors and decreased in order of the lateral incisors and canines.
4. In labio-lingual inclination, a positive correlation was only noted with lateral and central incisors.
5. The positive correlations were noted in the different teeth of the same side, particularly the central and lateral incisors, in the labio-lingual inclination.
6. The significant positive correlations were noted in the identical teeth of the both sides, especially in the lateral incisors and somewhat less in the canines and central incisors in the mesio-distal and labiolingual inclinations.
